Exciting happenings yesterday. A pair of our magnificent wedge tail eagles landed in a pine tree no more than 40 metres away. By the time I had my camera in hand , one had moved on, but I was able to get a shot of the second one as it flew off.
These beautiful birds are Australia's largest raptors with a wing span of 2-3 metres. For many years they were shot by farmers and graziers who believed they decimated their stock. Now however they are a protected species and most people admire them and wish them preserved.
