Not really sepia and not really all that old, but certainly famous. This photo is one taken by my daughter when she was the PR person for Sydney Airport management. She saw many well known people arrive, but this is the celebrity she was most excited about and for whom she felt the most awe and respect.
Nelson Mandela arriving at the Sydney airport in 1990.

A great man whom your daughter was lucky to be able to snap.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great photo to have for the family archives!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness- how special!
ReplyDeleteThat's quite a capture, and look at the open gesture of greeting and big smile.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about Mandela, and I think it's sad how the media still pursue him now that he's old and frail, and obviously wants to be left alone with his privacy.
ReplyDeleteYes, a great man, who suffered so much injustice, a wonderful photo.
ReplyDeleteIn time, it is a photograph which will live as long as the Potsdam photograph and be remembered for better reasons perhaps. There is a triumphal stance - the triumph of good against evil.
ReplyDeleteI bet your daughter was indeed excited.
ReplyDeleteHow awesome!
ReplyDeleteIt Looks As If She's Just Put Nelson Under Arrest!:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a catch! I'd certainly be proud of a shot like that too! Fine post!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful open hearted photograph, and a great memento of the occasion for your daughter.
