TUESDAY

I am linking this post with "Our World Tuesday" and with "Rubbish Tuesday" as I think the subject matter fits with both.

This shot was taken nearby, but it is a sight we see all too often in our countryside. While the old wrecks have a certain charm when seen like this, they are frequently en masse around a farming property and certainly add nothing to the beauty of the country.

Here is an example of what I am talking about. It was nearly burnt out by the recent bushfires. Pity in a way that the fires didn't reach it.

  1. you are right, one on its own make a great shot but the rest is pure rubbish and spoiling the look of the environment.

    1. Yes, most of it. Often when something is beyond repair, it is just left because it costs too much to take away. Sometimes kept for spare parts, sometimes sold for scrap when they need cash. A lot of farms have a vehicle dump like this, especially further out in the country. This one is quite visible from the road.

  3. The pickup is very interesting, I've never seem one with a box shaped like thisone. Around here rural folks think of scrap laying around as a bank account. When they need some money they scrap something. Tom The Backroads Traveller

    1. The pick up or ute as we call them here is an old Holden (Australian company which has been around since the late forties I think). Holdens and Fords have traditionally been our most popular cars, though Toyotas are giving them a run now.

  4. you're right - it can become a junkyard if they're left en masse to rot. here, there'd probably be metal salvage folks chomping at the bit to get in and turn in some of that at the scrap yard for a few dollars.

  5. I don't think your area has any monopoly on this kind of thing...you see it a lot in the countryside around America too. It can be a real eyesore. I do love the truck. Is that a hawk sitting on the hood?
